Viv is a tall, brawny orc woman who has spent 22 years traveling with a party of adventurers, completing quests. In the Prologue, she decides she is done with that life and pursues something less bloody—the titular coffee shop, Legends & Lattes—in Thune. During her final quest, she takes an artifact known as the Scalvert’s Stone and places faith in its rumored fortune. In terms of enemies, Viv faces the threat of the Madrigal’s people collecting payment and former party member Fennus taking her Stone. These external conflicts stir her internal conflict, which is the temptation to be the brutish warrior she once was to solve her problems. As these conflicts mount, she also faces low-stakes conflicts, which she solves with newfound business savvy.
Viv reinforces her decision against violence in her meeting with the Madrigal, who becomes an ally. Her decline of former party member Gallina’s knives and refusal to use her sword Blackblood show her growth, as she seeks to abandon old habits. Her conflict with Fennus revolves around his pursuit of the Scalvert’s Stone, believing Viv to have wronged him when she took the Stone for herself. She begins to fear what will happen to her new life if the Stone is removed from the shop.
